Adventure in Pucón
Volcanoes, hot springs, rainforest, and the best steak in the Lake District.
Pucón is Chile's adventure capital — a small town at the base of an active volcano, on the shore of a lake, surrounded by ancient rainforest and volcanic hot springs. It's where you go when you want your trip to be a story.
The itinerary
Day 1: Arrive and settle in. Walk the town, book your volcano climb for Day 2, and have dinner at La Maga — you'll need the calories.
Day 2: Climb Volcán Villarrica. 4-6 hours up, 2 hours down. You'll stand on the rim of an active, fuming crater. Celebrate with a long nap.
Day 3: Termas Geométricas — the most beautiful hot springs you'll ever see. 17 volcanic pools connected by a red walkway through rainforest and steam. You've earned this.
Day 4: Hike Parque Nacional Huerquehue. Ancient monkey puzzle trees, emerald lakes, and trails that get more magical the higher you go.
What you need to know
Book the volcano climb at least a day ahead — they need to fit you for gear. Termas Geométricas requires advance booking too. A rental car makes everything easier, but tours from Pucón are readily available.
